Pool Hostel reimagines the former Edmond and Corrigan office as a place of leisure, and presents itself as a capriccio of themes and ideas presented within the studio. A collective memory of a space previously unexperienced, the project explores the representation of memory through architecture. Materiality is drawn from the existing office space, along with precedent projects provided by Michael, including the Barcelona Pavilion, Maison de Verre and Building 80, along with films Slow West, Death in Venice and The Swimmer. References to capriccio images and Jeffrey Smart and queer identity are also made.

This project was a part of an exhibition titled “100 Ways of Making Sense”, held at the former Edmond and Corrigan Office in Melbourne, and mirrors the office in plan and elevation.
