Extra Homes for North Melbourne explores the use of laneways as the site for an Extra Home, and the use of government infrastructure as a host to allow for the development of Extra Homes.
The project, titled Gap Station, combines a variety of utilities, including phone box, traffic light signals, signage, Australia Post drop off boxes, amongst other things, into an identifiable folly placed at laneways with a width greater of 4m.
Gap Station realises that Extra Homes should be a part of government infrastructure, and overtly expresses its presence in the same way as the utilities listed above.
